Courtenay Casey is the Executive Director at National Sawdust (NS). NS is a non-profit who’s mission is to provide outstanding resources and programmatic support to both emerging and established performing artists and composers, for an adventurous audience in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY. National Sawdust has been hailed by The New Yorker as a “smashing success” and by the New York Times as “a vital part of New York’s New Music scene.” Casey has produced more than 10 operas in National Sawdust’s intimate and state-of-the-art venue as well a free virtual reality opera experience at Prospect Part (in partnership with Celebrate Brooklyn and Beth Morrison Projects) for an audience of 6,000 people. She has also developed a residency program that has supported more than 30 artists with dedicated cash and in-kind funds nearing 1Million Dollars. She has developed key partnerships with National Sawdust such as the University of Michigan, Festival D’Aix, New York Philharmonic, Kennedy Center, Wallace Annenberg Center, LA Opera and more. She is a Board Member of North Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce.
