As Board Chair of the storied 140-year old University Musical Society, Sarah Nicoli has helped lead the organization’s governing body through some of the most important moments in recent history. Serving as the then-Vice-Chair and a member of the 2016 search committee to name a successor to then-president Ken Fischer, Sarah helped recruit and transition Matthew VanBesien from the New York Philharmonic to lead UMS into its exciting next chapter. Throughout her Board and Volunteer service, Sarah has prioritized finding moments when Board Directors, Staff and Volunteers can better collaborate to achieve the mission and create real community impact. Though she has spent most of her career in corporate management and her own successful entrepreneurial endeavors, Sarah has now committed to pursuing a professional career in the arts following her tenure as UMS Board Chair. She recently embarked on a Certificate program in Arts Entrepreneurship & Leadership at University of Michigan’s School of Music, Theater & Dance, part of her commitment to merge her passion for the arts with her professional acumen.
