Chanon Judson, APAP Leadership Fellow Cohort II, Director’s Lab Fellow 2018. Chanon began her relationship with the critically acclaimed Urban Bush Women in 2001. Chanon has had the privilege of serving the company in several capacities including company member, rehearsal director, and Director for UB2 –Urban Bush Women’s performing apprentice ensemble. Chanon now deepens her work with the company as Associate Artistic Director and Coordinator of UBW’s facilitation network BOLD – Builders Organizes and Leaders through Dance.
Chanon was a member of Taylor Mac’s 24Hour Spectacular, Cotton Club Parade and the Tony Award winning musical Fela! Additional credits include Victoria Secrets Live, L’Oreal Live, Apple Watch, and the Michael Jackson 30th Anniversary Concert.
Chanon is avid arts educator. She has served as a faculty member with Urban Assembly of Music and Arts High School, Ailey Camp Kansas City MO (Site Director), Alvin Ailey Arts in Education, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Bill T. Jones / Arnie Zane Dance Co., and Earl Mosley’s Institute of the Arts. Additionally, Chanon is the proud founder of Cumbe Center for Diaspora Arts’ Dance Drum and Imagination Camp for Children as well as FAM - providing communal movement and art programing for the Brooklyn community.
