Cultural Fluidity, Appropriation and Empathy in a New Global Context

This session addresses the philosophical and pragmatic implications of globalization on performing arts presenting. How do we create contexts that connect artists and communities authentically? What is the difference between cultural appropriation and cultural appreciation? How does it impact selecting and presenting international artists? We will also explore the cultural fluidity of immigrant and diasporic communities as audiences for international work.
